Early, every morning, ski-boats are launched from our beaches. I’ve always seen these launches as wonderful parables of life. First there’s the preparation in the shallow water and the turning of the boat in to the waves. It’s not an individual feat. We need one another. We launch out of community, but also with community. Life is not a one person show.
Then there’s the actual launching out in to deep water. It’s the most dangerous moment demanding intense concentration, awareness and evaluation.
Then the adventurous journey towards the horizon and to what will unfold beyond. At least four times a week I watch this drama being played out and each time it stirs me deeply, especially when the sea is a little rough.
