I’m always attracted to and mesmerized by reflections in nature. They speak to me of that all important art of truly seeing and understanding yourself. I took this shot beside a little dam in the Drakensberg mountains. It was for me a memorable moment of deep reflection.

About Don

I love life. Sometimes it makes sense, other times not. Discerning its underlying patterns and beauty always provides great reward and meaning and is a passion I ineptly follow. I feel deeply attached to nature and love the sea with its distinct moods and colour and find walking along its beaches wonderfully inspiring. Writing, sketching and photography is a sheer joy for me and the blog is one of the places I am able to express these pursuits.

Lovely shots, Don. I do my best reflecting near water too.

Thanks Nancy – I go with you. There is just something about water. Maybe it’s because it’s so primal – where we begin our journey in the womb.

  3. Gorgeous. Nature has a way of making us look inward.

    Lovely picture.
I really wish I could go to such a place and ponder, such serene moments!

Beautiful image for reflection…especially linked with what you say about seeing and the inner and outer world. What we see on the outside, our perceptions or interpretations of those things, like the images in the water, so clearly reflect the shape our inner life.

Lucky you spending time in the Berg!

  6. I love the inspiration of reflections in/from water….sometimes, those reflections bring such amazing moments of awareness and insight.
