London – A Surprise Around Every Corner

London, like life, has this wonderful tendency to surprise you around every corner. We were
walking around the St. James’ street area and these little surprises greeted us.

Firstly, Piccadilly Arcade with Beau Brummel forever standing there and staring in to it.
Little arcades like this one, each with a beauty of its own, are found all over the city. Then, this wonderfully decorative cornice, again, so many of them decorating the London scene. An absolute feast for the eyes. Thirdly, these new and modern statues of a homeless man and a young trendy woman. And lastly, a simple pattern in a shop window.

We found all of this in a space of about two hundred metres.

About Don

I love life. Sometimes it makes sense, other times not. Discerning its underlying patterns and beauty always provides great reward and meaning and is a passion I ineptly follow. I feel deeply attached to nature and love the sea with its distinct moods and colour and find walking along its beaches wonderfully inspiring. Writing, sketching and photography is a sheer joy for me and the blog is one of the places I am able to express these pursuits.

Thanks Carolyn. Surprises certainly do that, and I agree with you, artists are absolute gifts to us all. What would we do or be without artistic endeavour? Thanks for dropping in.

  8. Thanks for sharing your impressions, Don – so nice to look at things through another’s eyes. I particularly enjoy the London posts – a reminder that the whole world is not living in an abnormal state of fear all the time. Blessings to you both as you enjoy the rest of your holiday with your family.
