Animals are always true to their natures; it’s human beings who betray theirs. That’s why I’m often on the side of animals. I’ve long let go of that absurd little dictum that only human beings are the crowning glory of creation and that somehow they stand apart or above all of nature.

About Don

I love life. Sometimes it makes sense, other times not. Discerning its underlying patterns and beauty always provides great reward and meaning and is a passion I ineptly follow. I feel deeply attached to nature and love the sea with its distinct moods and colour and find walking along its beaches wonderfully inspiring. Writing, sketching and photography is a sheer joy for me and the blog is one of the places I am able to express these pursuits.

I applaud you, Sir Don. A view I think long held by aboriginal and First Nation peoples. And now Don.

I try to promote that myself in my shtufffs and life ( fyi am one quarter First Nations). Truth be told, until mankind embraces and protects the natural world completely, an whole heartily he will never be at home on this earth.

  7. Bravo, Don! How true. Humans should be taking notes and learning from animals.

I once read a book by Matthew Fox where he devoted an entire chapter about animals being our mentors. It was beautiful, Marylin. So I know something of you mean.

Agreed – we are NOT at the top – it’s more like a circle and we’re all sharers of this Earth.
